Customer responsiveness is a demanding discipline in which the need for service overrides plans. Understand how your stature as a leader can lend weight and influence to a critical transaction. Realize that your availability to your team and customers at such times is one of your most basic responsibilities. Cultivate an attitude of flexibility and availability. Be willing to reschedule meetings and travel plans, or work odd hours. Make arrangements to be available on short notice and to respond with whatever resources are necessary, including solid account coverage when you must be away.
