Influencing Others
Becoming a Great Negotiator
Business Challenges: How can our people become more skillful negotiators? How can our people become effective advocates for their point of view?
Nova Solution: Show people that there’s no such thing as a “born negotiator” or “born sales person.” Anybody can learn how to be persuasive. Take away people’s fear of using power, and show them how to employ it skillfully, especially in politically sensitive situations. This workshop shows people how to maximize the possibility that they can get what they want in a transaction without harming their relationship with the other party. Participants learn about the use of power, especially the formalized power of a manager over a subordinate, and how to use it comfortably, respectfully, and effectively. They learn nine different influence styles, when to avoid them and when to use them—and how they affect relationships. Participants come away more confident and skillful at advocating and negotiating for the outcomes they want.
